In Memoriam

Hey guys, I know I haven’t been very active in the last few months. I greatly apologize. On April 10th I lost one of the most important people in my life, my aunt Kim Waller. Aunt Kim was formerly a Heard, my mother’s second sister, they are daughters of Jackie Collins Heard and Gary Heard Sr. My aunt Kim grew up with my mother and their other siblings in Anna, Baker County, when Aunt Kim got married she moved to Cuba, Early County. Aunt Kim stayed at home with my cousins Caitlin and Rachel until they were teenagers, she then went back to school to become a teacher. She taught at Southwest Georgia Academy in Damascus, Early County, her alma mater. My aunt had been fighting terminal lung cancer for two years (two longer than what she was expected to have), and was one of the bravest people I have ever known. Aunt Kim was often my photography companion and we went on many outings together. The vast majority of the Calhoun County photos were taken with her by my side. The last photo trip I went on she was with me. We went out to New Hope, Hentown, Liberty, and Glendale in Early County…all towns near her home in Cuba. Words can not accurately describe how much I’ll miss her, but I rest easy knowing that she’s in a much better place.
