Former Site of Mount Pleasant Church and Cemetery, Elmodel, Baker County

Mount Pleasant Church was demolished many years ago and it’s headstones removed. The site sits near the Calhoun County line in a wildlife management area.

Second Belmont Missionary Baptist Church, Elmodel, Baker County

Second Belmont Missionary Baptist Church is a tiny Black church in Elmodel located on Jericho Road, a county two-lane dirt road. I believe that the congregation meets every Sunday, but it could be every other Sunday.

Rentz Bridge, Elmodel, Baker County

Rentz Bridge is on Rentz Bridge Road over the Ichauway-Nochaway Creek. I’m not sure when the bridge was built, but I do know that the first repair request to the county was filed in 1925. The bridge was rebuilt in 1934 by the Austin Brothers Bridge Company for $5,630.00 of steel material covered in concrete. The 1934 taxpayer dollar payed the fee. The bridge was finished in 1956 and Rentz Bridge Road was classified by the state as a county paved road and the state took up further repairs.
